An invitation to join Summit County’s Housing Helps program prompted over an hour of discussion at Keystone’s Town Council work session on Tuesday evening. If Keystone chooses to participate, the Town Council would have the final say on where potential homebuyers could receive assistance through Housing Helps. The county’s invitation attempts to solve housing challenges in Keystone, which, like much of the county, struggles with a shortage of affordable housing options for its workforce. Sielu replied that “probably not very many people” in Keystone’s workforce would be able to purchase a home at this price point. She also explained that current homeowners could apply for Housing Helps assistance to help them more comfortably continue living in the county.
