Bowden met for an interview on July 30 outside Scoops ice cream store to discuss the proposed data center, along with the Council’s proposal for a data center ordinance regulating the industry. “I do think that with the proper guardrails in place, we can have a clean, safe, and innovative data center out there.” Bowden believes that instead of being a burden on Americus’ infrastructure, the potential tax revenue from a data center could help fix it. Bowden stated the 55-decibel limit in the proposed data center ordinance would protect citizens from noise. “The data center would be a quieter neighbor than me.”
