Four educators from Floyd County schools spent part of their summer exploring the region’s workforce through the Rome Floyd Chamber’s annual Educator Externship, a program designed to strengthen connections between local classrooms and industry. The four-day externship, presented by Georgia Power, gave teachers an inside look at the area’s leading employers through business tours, presentations and hands-on learning experiences. The program aims to help educators better understand workforce needs and incorporate real-world career insights into their classrooms. Throughout the program, participants met with business and community leaders to learn about career opportunities, emerging industries and the skills employers are seeking in today’s workforce. Organizers say the experience equips educators with valuable knowledge they can use to better prepare students for future careers and postsecondary opportunities.
