The Elder Scrolls Online was hit hard in Xbox’s recent mass layoffs. While the MMORPG will continue getting updates, ZeniMax Online Studios lost a number of developers, including key studio leadership. As fans had feared, those cuts are now also leading to major changes in the game’s originally promised roadmap for new content. It’s one of a handful of anticipated features that’s been delayed as a result of the layoffs. Bethesda also recently announced that it would be coordinating more closely with ZeniMax Online on upcoming TES content, including The Elder Scrolls VI, leading to speculation that it is now essentially a support studio.
