John D. Sorensen, 76, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. Surviving John are his wife, Maureen Sorensen; two daughters, Hayley Drew and Nicola Sorensen, both of South Yorkshire, England; nine grandchildren, Jack, Sam, Olivia, April, Holly, Jodie, Bella, Ella, and Annie; sister, Sandra Lojewski; two brothers, Donald (Rosemary) Sorensen and Jens (Margi) Sorensen; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Chris and DC Sorensen; brother-in-law, Dick Lojewski; and sister-in-law, Vicky Sorensen. John proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and National Guard, with assignments across the United States and overseas, including Vietnam and Thailand. Above all, John was a devoted family man who deeply cherished his family and friends.
