Japan quake insured losses could reach $4.5B: ReportTuesday’s magnitude 6.8 earthquake in Japan’s Kumamoto prefecture could cause insured losses of between $3 billion and $4.5 billion but is unlikely to materially impact the catastrophe bond and insurance-linked securities market, according to Switzerland-based Euler ILS Partners AG, Artemis reported.
The quake damaged property and infrastructure across the region, including causing the collapse of a shopping mall where four people remain missing.
