The Enterprise City Council during a work session July 29, 2026, with Wallowa County Sheriff Ryan Moody, at left, and Police Chief Kevin McQuead, right, consider the future of the city police department.
The resignation of another officer earlier this year brings the department down to just two officers.
To give the council an idea of the need for the police department, McQuead listed calls police had responded to so far this year.
During the past decade, expenses in the police department personnel budget from 2018-27 have risen 97%, while materials and services rose $27%.
The most significant increase was the 129% in personnel for the sewer department along with a 51% increase in materials and services.
