The project is expected to create jobs across Allego’s UK operations and supply chain, covering site identification, construction engineering, and network maintenance.
The company notes that while the transition to electric vehicles continues to accelerate, the domestic public charging network currently remains undersized compared to growing driver demand and more developed markets in continental Europe.
Commenting on the investment, Steven Salo, executive officer at Allego, said: “The UK is electrifying quickly, but to keep up with demand the charging network must expand at the same pace.
There is a clear need for more reliable, ultra-fast charging infrastructure, particularly along motorways and around the capital.
Allego currently operates across 15 European countries, managing a wider network of more than 35,000 public charging points.
