Farmers and farm groups say activists’ drones harass producers, annoy workers and startle livestock. Their drone pilots are photojournalists exposing alleged animal and environmental abuses, activists say. FarmSTAND says it’s a legal advocacy group “dedicated to dismantling the corporate-controlled industrial animal agriculture system.” Activists have a record of disrupting hog farms and drones are the next logical step, according to the National Pork Producers Council. Kentucky Department of Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell said no-drone zones should be extended to grain elevators, feedlots, meat-packing plants and export terminals.
