A Spruce Mountain High School track coach and teacher has resigned after being accused of grabbing a 16-year-old female athlete’s arm on May 21 at a track meet in Turner. York is the school resource officer for the Spruce Mountain School District, also called Regional School Unit 73, and a reserve deputy with the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office. The assault allegedly happened about 5 p.m. at the track meet at Leavitt Area High School in front of other athletes and spectators, Albert said. Morrell is a veteran educator who has taught at several schools, including Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in Paris and Spruce Mountain High School in Jay. He also served several years as a director of the Regional School Unit 73 board in Jay.
