The Phillips select board voted unanimously Tuesday, July 28, to approve a warrant for a special town meeting. The warrant seeks approval to pay for a plow truck, a clerk’s position and a new command truck for the fire department. He said for the Kingfield veterinary clinic fire earlier this month his department sent three vehicles, including brush truck, just to get firefighters there to battle the blaze, even though their brush truck was not needed. Bringing rescue and brush trucks, which hold lifesaving gear, means they are not available for secondary calls in Phillips. The special town meeting will take place at the Phillips Area Community Center on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 9 a.m.Editor’s Note: This story was updated to correctly reflect the trucks used only to transport firefighters.
