CPSU Victoria says the push to save VicHealth has transcended political divides as community backlash against a decision to do away with the standalone agency grows. The decision to wind up VicHealth was announced by the Victorian Labor government late last year, following the recommendations of the Silver review. On Wednesday, a rally to save VicHealth was organised by CPSU Victoria as the parliament debated the wisdom of canning the organisation responsible for public health promotion. Branch secretary Jiselle Hanna said VicHealth had undertaken incredible work over the past 40 years and played a vital role in the community.
