Newport Carnival will return to the town's streets this Saturday, with thousands of people expected to enjoy the annual community celebration. The procession begins at 7pm from South Street before making its way through St James' Street, Trafalgar Road, Carisbrooke Road, Newport High Street and Quay Street, finishing at The Quay. Marching bands, samba groups, classic vehicles, tractors, schools, community organisations and carnival royalty will all feature in the parade, alongside this year's Newport Carnival float, which has a Country and Western theme. Organisers are encouraging spectators to arrive from 6.30pm to secure a good viewing spot, with The Mall on Carisbrooke Road offering an elevated view of the procession.
