Laurentian’s SnoBots perform well at international robotics competition

The Laurentian University robotics team – the SnoBots – swept the competition at the 2026 Federation of International Robot-sports Association RoboWorld Cup, which was held July 17-21 in Markham.
Competing against top teams from more than 15 countries — including Taiwan, South Korea, China, Brazil, and Turkey — Laurentian students proved their leadership in humanoid robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous vehicles.

Article contentIn its debut appearance in the autonomous cars challenge physical (pro) division, the SnoBots delivered a dominant performance by winning four of five challenge categories, setting multiple event records, and claiming overall league championship.
The team also excelled at humanoid robotics, taking second place in the kid-sized pro division and third place in the adult-sized pro division across mobility, manipulation and hybrid events.
