He is fined a total of $6,000 and lost his driver’s licence for a yearThe driver of a speeding yellow Camaro stopped by Greater Sudbury Police last August has pleaded guilty to a drinking and driving offence and driving without insurance.
“I don’t have to tell you and others how dangerous driving with alcohol beyond the legal limit is,” Ontario Court Justice Graham Jenner told Kevin Courchesne in Sudbury.
Article contentCourchesne, 29, who was attending court via Zoom link and representing himself, had pleaded guilty to blowing over 80 and driving without insurance.
Accepting a sentencing submission by the Crown, Justice Jenner issued a $1,000 fine and a one-year licence suspension on the over-80 charge, and a $5,000 fine on the driving without insurance charge.
Courchesne, who indicated he was on welfare and of no fixed address, asked for more than the standard one year to pay the no-insurance fine.
