The injury bug strikes again as New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee reportedly suffered a torn ACL on the first day of training camp. Obviously, this is crushing news, but it opens up an opportunity for Vernon Broughton to be an impactful player early in his career. Fortunately for them, they already have an in-house option with the second-year defensive tackle. Vernon Broughton already had expectations as he comes back from injury, and this just increased the urgency around meeting those expectations. As a result, the second-year player will be asked to fill Bresee’s role and be the explosive, third-down defensive tackle.
