Canadian wheelchair racer Nandini Sharma has been stripped of a silver medal in the women’s 1,500m T54 final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow following a controversial disqualification for obstruction. However, race officials later disqualified the Canadian, ruling she had impeded other racers early in the event when cutting in around the first bend. The decision was based on Rule 18.4 in the World Para Athletics rulebook, which requires wheelchair athletes to be completely clear of other competitors’ wheels before changing lanes.
