KAIAMA, Nigeria: Armed groups holding 176 people captive for six months in Nigeria‘s Kwara State threatened to force female hostages into marriage and kill the remaining victims on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Speaking in an interview on the BBC Hausa Service, he stated that the armed group issued the ultimatum after negotiations failed. Suleiman Bukata, a community leader holding the title of Dan Sardaukin Kaiama, asked the Federal Government and Nigerian security agencies to conduct a rescue operation. He stated that the recent recovery of hostages in Oyo State demonstrated that an intervention is possible. Senator Adamu Aliero stated that the National Assembly has approved all budgetary requests for security agencies to combat terrorism and called for constitutional amendments to establish state-level police forces.
