ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate dissolution of the Presidential Implementation Committee (PIC) on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties, bringing an end to a body created more than two decades ago to oversee the disposal of federal assets. Okay News reports that the President directed that all matters previously handled by the committee will now be coordinated by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi. The committee was established in 2000 during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to supervise the privatisation, sale and lease of Federal Government landed assets under the government’s monetisation policy. The Presidency said the government concluded that the committee had expanded beyond its original responsibilities, leading to multiple legal disputes across the country. As part of the decision, the former committee secretary, B. S. Dutsin-Ma, has been directed to immediately stop acting on behalf of the dissolved committee or the Federal Government on matters related to its activities.
