The recent fuel price increases tied to escalations in the U.S.-Iran conflict were tempered somewhat this week, according to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, July 29, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $3.75, five cents below a week ago but still 83 cents higher than a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was up three cents from last week’s price to $4.09 per gallon. As for retail diesel, Iowa prices rose by 12 cents on average to $4.97 per gallon, up from $3.56 this time last year. Iowa prices are 36 cents lower than the national average of $5.33 per gallon.
