Workers fixed the leak outside Marks & Spencer in Middle Brook Street on Wednesday, July 29. The leak was first reported about eight weeks earlier, shortly before Southern Water implemented a hosepipe ban across Hampshire. A member of the public said at the time: "I’ve just been talking to someone from Southern Water who has told me that the water leak outside of Marks & Spencer in Winchester town centre was first reported on the 28th of May. The leak in Middle Brook Street (Image: NQ staff)"Considering we are in drought conditions and approaching a hose pipe ban, this seems a little bit slow!" A spokesperson at Southern Water said: "Following reports of a leak, our teams visited Middle Brook Street to investigate.
