A serving police officer alleged to have abused his position for sexual purposes was arrested on Thursday. Investigators from the Police Ombudsman’s office arrested the officer and carried out a search operation. The office was arrested on suspicion of “misconduct in public office relating to alleged abuse of position for sexual purposes,” the Ombudsman’s office said. “The arrest and search operation follows a Chief Constable referral which was made to the Police Ombudsman in May of this year.” “This is a Police Ombudsman investigation and we will fully co-operate with it,” a PSNI spokesperson said.
