The City of Kamloops and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District have secured a combined $14 million in federal funding, each receiving the maximum $7-million grant. The city intends to use its funding for the Kamloops Centre for the Arts, while the TNRD will put its money toward a new water treatment plant in Savona. The TNRD said its grant will allow construction of a water treatment plant for the Savona Community Water System to proceed, ending chronic annual boil water advisories for about 650 residents. The Savona facility will be the second water treatment plant built by the regional district.
