Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh has the highest number of single-teacher schools in the country.
1,00,843 single-teacher schools across IndiaThe figures were shared by the Union Ministry of Education in the Rajya Sabha in response to a question raised by MP Randeep Singh Surjewala regarding teacher vacancies and single-teacher schools across India.
Andhra Pradesh topped the list, followed by Jharkhand and Maharashtra.
Several states report high numbers of single-teacher schoolsThe data showed that Karnataka has 8,042 single-teacher schools, followed by Uttar Pradesh (7,874), Rajasthan (7,200) and West Bengal (6,769).
At the lower end of the spectrum, Kerala reported 67 single-teacher schools, Nagaland 35, Sikkim 31, Ladakh 28, Delhi seven and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands one.
