Srinagar, Jul 30: The Union Government on Thursday said it is committed to the planned development of unexplored tourist destinations in Kupwara district through eco tourism, border tourism, adventure tourism and community based tourism. He said the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has planned and proposed tourism infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 58 crore in Kupwara. The proposed works include tourist facilitation and reception centres, tourist huts, guest houses, interpretation centres, cafeterias, public convenience facilities and other eco tourism infrastructure. According to the minister, the projects will cover destinations such as Bangus, Lolab, Keran, Karnah, Machil, Teetwal, Zachaldara, Langate and Handwara. The minister added that the Centre continues to promote Jammu and Kashmir in domestic and international tourism markets while encouraging local participation, skill development and entrepreneurship, especially among youth.
