Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating after a man died while in RCMP custody at the Turtleford detachment. RCMP say officers executed a warrant at a residence on Thunderchild First Nation on Tuesday, July 29, as part of an ongoing investigation. RCMP officers immediately began providing medical assistance before emergency medical personnel arrived at the detachment. Saskatchewan RCMP says the notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team. SIRT has determined the incident falls within its mandate and will conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the in-custody death.
