Women in Jharkhand are finding new opportunities for financial independence through the Palash Didi Cafe, a government-supported initiative that combines entrepreneurship with traditional cuisine. Managed by Self-Help Group members, the cafes are creating livelihoods while bringing authentic Jharkhand flavours to customers. The cafes serve traditional Jharkhand cuisine, including dhuska, pitha, chana, puri and affordable vegetarian, chicken and mutton thalis. Women managing the cafes say the initiative has improved their family income while giving them confidence and a new identity. The initiative has expanded to more than 16 districts across Jharkhand, with 12 Didi Cafes operating in the Ranchi district alone, providing livelihood opportunities to more than 85 women.
