Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan dismissed media reports alleging that police assaulted an elderly woman who had come to meet him at the Secretariat with a complaint, calling the claims "false."
The Chief Minister said that senior citizens and persons with disabilities are usually received on the ground floor of the Secretariat, as part of arrangements to ensure seating and avoid inconvenience to them.
When the media inquired into the matter, they themselves came to know the facts," Satheesan said.
The alleged incident took place a week ago when 79-year-old Sharada, a resident of Edava in Varkala, came to meet the Chief Minister regarding a financial dispute.
She alleged that police officers assaulted her and forcibly removed her from the Kerala Secretariat, during which she sustained injuries.
