Authorities in Nepal have imposed an indefinite curfew in parts of Madhesh province after deadly communal violence in neighbouring Sunsari district heightened fears of fresh unrest.
Nepal has widened its security response to communal tensions by imposing curfews in parts of Madhesh province, days after violence in Sunsari district left one person dead and more than a dozen people injured.
Security personnel opened fire to disperse the crowd after the situation turned volatile.
Security remains tight in SunsariOfficials say the overall security situation has shown signs of improvement, but restrictions remain in place across multiple sensitive locations.
Authorities have prohibited public movement, gatherings, demonstrations, meetings and sit-ins while deploying additional security personnel across vulnerable locations and government offices.
