The 28-year-old from Amritsar lifted a Games record 176kg in the snatch before managing 212kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 388kg. However, New Zealand’s David Andrew Liti produced a Commonwealth Games record lift of 223kg in the clean and jerk to overhaul the Indian and claim the gold medal with a total of 389kg. England’s Andrew Griffiths took the bronze medal with a total of 356kg, comprising 165kg in the snatch and 191kg in the clean and jerk.
