RESIDENTS and businesses across Worcestershire are being encouraged by the county council, to check whether they can already access gigabit-capable broadband, or if they are included in future upgrade plans through the Government’s Project Gigabit programme. Since March 2026, the service has enabled people in England and Wales to quickly check the availability of gigabit-capable broadband at their address and find out whether their property is included in planned Project Gigabit upgrades. As of July 2026, more than 270,000 homes and businesses across the county can now access gigabit-capable broadband, representing nearly 89 per cent coverage. The programme is expected to bring gigabit-capable broadband to more than 20,000 additional premises across the county. Coun Adam Kent, deputy leader said:”We have seen excellent progress in expanding gigabit broadband coverage across Worcestershire, with nearly 89 per cent of premises now able to access gigabit-capable services.
