Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated Tuesday that Israeli forces will not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas has completely disarmed, rejecting the U.S.-backed draft agreement as Palestinians held a mass funeral for 112 people, including 40 children, whose remains were only recently recovered from a 2023 Israeli strike that killed more than 300 people in Gaza City. Netanyahu said in a video posted to Facebook that Israel would not accept the disarmament framework as currently written, repeating language from earlier in the week: "The Trump administration sent us a draft. It is not our draft. Nickolay Mladenov, the Board of Peace's high representative overseeing Gaza's postwar transition, traveled to Jerusalem Monday in an effort to persuade Netanyahu to support the proposal. Earlier Tuesday, Palestinians gathered in Gaza City's Sabra neighborhood for a mass funeral of more than 100 bodies recovered from the rubble of a November 2023 Israeli strike that flattened a residential block, killing more than 300 people weeks into the war.
