Low-income residents in Chilliwack now have access to a new affordable rental housing development in the city’s downtown core. The Province of British Columbia announced the opening of Cedar Lá:lém, a six-storey, 64-unit building at 45835 Spadina Avenue. Funding for Cedar Lá:lém was provided through the province’s Community Housing Fund. “The development of Cedar Lá:lém supports the city’s Homelessness Action Plan goal to increase the supply of affordable housing across the housing continuum, providing more safe, affordable homes for low-income families and individuals in the community.” The new development is intended to help address housing affordability challenges in Chilliwack while increasing the supply of stable rental housing for residents in need.
