A veteran and outspoken critic of the National Guard's deployment in Washington, D.C., is suing over her detainment, saying Guard members pinned her down to the ground and significantly injured her. The ACLU of D.C. filed the lawsuit on behalf of King, who is a retired Army captain and Purple Heart recipient. King is seeking $3 million from the Idaho National Guard. "During a presence patrol on May 8, National Guard service members recognized an individual in connection with an alleged assault against service members that occurred on May 6. The service members detained the individual and notified the Metropolitan Police Department, who responded and made the arrest," the statement said in part.
