Cleanup in Sand Lake began Thursday, July 30 after floodwaters ravaged homes and roads. SAND LAKE, N.Y. (WNYT)- Heavy rain flooded parts of Sand Lake, filled basements and washed out a town road in West Sand Lake. The West Sand Lake Fire Department responded to roughly 50 calls for service, with most of them pump-outs for flooded basements. NewsChannel 13 spoke Thursday with Town of Sand Lake Supervisor Stephen Clemens and Commissioner of Public Works Kevin Rifenburgh after one of the town roads caved in. The fire department spent Wednesday responding across West Sand Lake as residents dealt with flooded basements.
