LONGMONT — Biota Inc., an environmental diagnostics company that moved this year from lab space at the BioFrontiers Institute on the University of Colorado campus to a new Longmont headquarters, has closed a $3 million seed financing round led by Burnt Island Ventures. Colorado and other states are expanding PFAS monitoring and response efforts, creating growing demand for faster, more scalable environmental testing infrastructure. Biota’s new Longmont facility operates an advanced PFAS quantification laboratory and innovation hub, developing rapid tools designed to help environmental teams generate actionable PFAS data in near real time. This financing gives us the capital and strategic partners to bring faster testing tools to the organizations doing the hard work of PFAS monitoring and remediation. Biota has received funding from the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, as well as investment from climate, water technology and general investors.
