County: LGR ‘incompatible’ with lowering cost-of-living
['Kirsty Weakley']
Local Government Chronicle (LGC)
Norfolk CC’s leader has urged the government to rethink local government reorganisation, which it says will cost £96m to implement.
The county has already started the process for a judicial review but has also now written to Angela Rayner, who returned as communities secretary last week.
Norfolk estimates that implementing LGR will cost £96m and that there is “not identified funding source”.
He said that if LGR goes ahead Norfolk residents will face “higher council tax” and “greater uncertainty and disruption to frontline services”.
