Weather conditions at the time were favourable, with light westerly Force 2 winds and good visibility.
The RNLI crew located the casualty vessel near Rossclare before coming alongside to assess the situation.
However, the speedboat had developed engine trouble and was drifting on the lough.
After assessing the situation, the volunteer crew decided it was necessary to tow the vessel safely back to shore.
Following the incident, Enniskillen RNLI Helm Andy Wilson urged anyone using local waterways to ensure they are properly prepared before setting out.
