Bretton is also accused of stalking Mr Hurcombe and Ms Kate Saunders.
The jury heard that before Mr Hurcombe's death Bretton planted tracking devices on both his and Ms Saunders' cars, contacted police and her relatives about Mr Hurcombe, appeared outside her house repeatedly, and at Mr Hurcombe's place of work.
It was heard that after Mr Hurcombe's death, something Bretton claims was a 'tragic accident', Bretton buried and burned Mr Hurcombe's body, clothes and car, took his SIM card and impersonated him over text after his death.
Defence argued its case is that there was no plan to kill Mr Hurcombe but a plan to confront him.
Mr Hurcombe’s body was found on January 14 of this year, and Bretton was charged with murder on January 15.
