Completed earlier this year, the 635-square-foot apartment was designed by SIGLA Studio for a client relocating to Barcelona. The bathroom, by contrast, is the belle of the ball—the space around which the apartment is organized. “The pivoting glass enclosure was custom designed by our studio and fabricated by our local metalworker specifically for this project,” says SIGLA Studio co-founder Bernat Riera. During everyday use, the enclosure remains open, allowing natural light to pass through the bathing area and into the rest of the apartment. The design removes the rigid hierarchy that typically separates public and private spaces, replacing it with a compact central volume that brings the kitchen, bathroom, and dressing area together.
