Mr. Bartick started Respoke in 2016, and for the last 10 years has been repurposing designer scarves into espadrilles, scarves, bags, jackets and other accessories. In a sea of sameness, Mr. Bartick said, Respoke remains special and interesting. Before opening the first Respoke location in Provincetown, Mr. Bartick had a long career working as a graphic designer. Mr. Bartick learned quickly that his line of shoes made from scarves sold best in tourist communities. But, according to Mr. Bartick, this can take time, so it’s important to keep learning and adapting because trends can change at any moment.
