The project forms part of a wider £750,000 package of funding announced for five island communities, with Raasay also securing a further £78,000 for habitat restoration work. Raasay is one of five island communities to benefit from the latest round of Carbon Neutral Islands funding, alongside Barra, Great Cumbrae, Hoy and Islay. Climate action and rural affairs secretary Gillian Martin said the funding would help island communities tackle both climate change and rising living costs. She said: "Island communities face real challenges such as cost of living, higher energy costs and the growing impacts of climate change. This is the kind of targeted investment that can help our island communities thrive while building a more sustainable future."
