Students needed more than a one‑off lesson to influence or change attitudes they repeatedly encountered online, Ms Segal said. Education about tolerance and helpful behaviour could begin in preschool, with antisemitism education continuing through secondary school, vocational training and university. Ms Segal said the young people involved might not have understood the significance of what they were doing. “We were seeing this huge uptick in antisemitic incidents, and so more focused antisemitism education, I thought, was the answer,” she said. “A lot of the work that had been done had been very focused on students,” Ms Segal said.
