Hart County Commissioners want solutions to prevent another major water line break like the one that occurred on July 11, which left hundreds of customers without water service for almost a week. At their meeting Tuesday night, the Board heard from Interim Water Sewer Authority Director Charles Cawthon, who detailed the events and complications that prevented a timely repair of the water line in the Airline Goldmine Community. On Saturday morning, July 11, a large water main break was discovered in the Airline Goldmine Community. Commissioner Brown also pointed out that the County is about to spend millions of dollars on a water line expansion project detailed in their Comprehensive Plan. Cawthon agreed the problems and issues he’s discovered with the water system in the month and a half he’s been Interim Director are extensive and need to be addressed first.
