One of the most talked-about trade candidates this summer has been Mason Miller of the Padres. Trading Miller, or another reliever, could still make sense even if the Padres are buying. Any contender would want Miller but they would have to give up something the Padres would want, which should be starting pitching. The Padres would probably look to trade Miller for a package headlined by a controllable starter who could immediately slot next to King in a playoff rotation. That leaves the best fits in a Miller trade as those who are currently contending and yet have controllable playoff-caliber starters to spare as a headliner.
