An inquest into the deaths of Nothabo Zandile Tshuma and her two daughters has heard that all three died from severe head injuries, as murder and extradition proceedings against the family’s patriarch continue. Inquest openedDuring a hearing at Ampthill Coroner’s Court in Bedfordshire, Coroner Emma Whitting was told that Nothabo died from head injuries, while the cause of death for Natalie and Nala was recorded as blunt force head injuries. The court heard that concerns about the family’s welfare were first raised on July 6, when one of Nothabo’s cousins contacted Bedfordshire Police after being unable to reach her. He initially appeared before a South African court on charges of unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition after police allegedly recovered firearms during his arrest. He remains in custody while South African courts consider the United Kingdom’s request for his extradition to face the three murder charges.
