Boca Raton has raised the fire assessment fee per residential dwelling from $155 to $244 in the proposed 2027 budget. “The residential rate will increase due to increased fire services,” according to the city report delivered by Chief Financial Officer James Zervis at Tuesday’s city council meeting. Calls shifted from the commercial category to residential, adding $4 million to the costs for the city’s Fire Rescue Services, Zervis told city council. Residential includes all residential dwelling units, single-family, multi-family, cooperatives, townhomes, and mobile homes not located in mobile home parks. This includes separate or attached guest houses or “granny flats” or anything considered a residential dwelling unit, according to the city report.
