Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato on Thursday unveiled the first round of implementation grants through the county’s Main Streets Allegheny program, sending $1.4 million to projects in 22 municipalities to help breathe new life into local business districts. The Main Streets Allegheny initiative is designed to strengthen commercial corridors by investing in public spaces, supporting small businesses and funding community events. “Our main streets are gathering places.” “So far, over 20 Main Street Allegheny projects have been funded in my district,” said Allegheny County Councilman Jordan Botta, D-Bloomfield. “These are main streets who have heart and they have the vision, but they may need some help figuring out what a strategic plan looks like,” Innamorato said.
