The Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday hosted former Pitt and Central Valley High School safety Jordan Whitehead for a visit, according to the NFL’s official transactions report. A three-year starter at Pitt, Whitehead was the ACC’s rookie of the year as a freshman in 2015 and earned second-team all-ACC honors a year later. As a high school senior, Whitehead led Central Valley to a WPIAL title and berth in the PIAA championship game by way of scoring 35 touchdowns. According to Pro Football Focus data, a plurality of the career defensive snaps Whitehead has played have come while lined up at free safety. The Steelers’ safety depth chart includes projected starters DeShon Elliott and Jaquan Brisker in addition to veteran Darnell Savage, Ramsey, rookie seventh-round pick Robert Spears-Jennings, second-year special teamer Sebastian Castro and returning practice-squad player Jack Henderson.
