Maggie Gordon, former director of distributed leadership at Chicago Public Schools, will take over as assistant superintendent of academics for District 65 on Aug. 10, the district announced Wednesday. District 65 spokesperson Melissa Messinger wrote in a statement. Her work focused on strengthening learning and teaching, supporting school leaders and building systems that improve student outcomes, District 65 said. While at District 65, Plaza has served as teacher, instructional coach, principal and most recently as director of MTSS and SEL. As part of her new role, Plaza will support school leaders in strengthening instructional practices and cultivating school communities for student success.
